Q:How does Google use directories and “Local Search” websites in it’s own “Google Place Pages”. A: Google has a unique algorithm similar to the one that it uses for regular website rankings that it uses when your search query involves a “local business”, and it matches entries for your Business name, Phone Number, Website and Address, called a “citation” across trusted directories like Superpages, Yellowpages, Yelp. It also taps into the positive and negative reviews and makes them available in your Place page.
Q:Do you know where/how your business stands with its online reputation? A: Word of mouth used to be the primary way that an agent or broker’s reputation was known, but the internet, online Yellowpages, social review sites like Yelp and social media have opened new opportunities for clients to find your business and also express an opinion about your services. It’s important that you at least take control of your Google Places page, and then stay aware of your profiles on other directories like Yellowpages, Superpages, and Yelp as well.
Q:How do you deal with negative reviews? A: Learn how to engage positively to negative reviews. You’re going to receive negative reviews, learn how to be ready to deal with them because a negative review with a positive response from a business can actually improve your potential client’s trust in your business by showing that you’re aware of issues and are working to address them.
