A few weeks back, I decided to start a website. I knew what I wanted it to be about and had a great idea for a domain name, so I got online, went to purchase my domain, and found that someone got to it before me. I tried about a dozen variations of my domain name, and before you know it, I was searching for domains so twisted around my original idea that no one in their right mind would want to use them. I eventually registered a name that would work, but I learned a valuable lesson—it’s hard to find a great, unclaimed .com domain name.
Luckily, .com isn’t the only option. Now there are .org, .info, .net, .today, .edu, .co, .us, and a whole host of other domain extensions. The only problem is several of those alternative extensions are either filling up or aren’t really relevant to a business operating in real estate. But all of that is about to change.
Now there is a new domain option available for real estate agents, brokers, mortgage professionals, property managers, builders, multiple listing services, and real estate associations that can define your category and help propel you to the top of your game. Starting May 12th, .Homes domain names will be available for general registration to the real estate community. To protect the integrity of the .Homes domain, anyone registering for a .Homes web address will be reviewed to confirm they are eligible to purchase a .Homes domain.
Because .Homes domains are brand new, www.YourName.Homes, www.YourCompany.Homes, and www.YourCompanySellsYourArea.Homes are waiting to be claimed. Check out the Domain Name Selection Guide for more .Homes name ideas! Each domain name comes with a control panel so that you can determine which website your domain links to.
