The temperatures are finally starting to come down, kiddos are preparing to go back to school and summer will soon be a thing of the past. I don’t know about you, but this summer was a BLAST! So many fresh, new advancements in social media that can help propel you into your best fall season yet! Today, we’re going to be wrapping up this sweltering season with the Summer Hit List, chronicling what’s hot, and what you need to infuse into your social strategy to keep that red hot summer momentum going into the cooler months ahead!
This summer, social media was all about being real, raw and live! Audiences no longer crave (as strongly as they once did) expertly posed photos edited to perfection! Audiences want to see what it’s really like living in your world and want to see the realest version of you possible, hence why Snapchat continues to soar in popularity amongst all audiences, Instagram launched an update that mimics the core functionality of Snapchat and why Facebook Live is persistently a big player in the live and real game. So, let’s get to it and break down each of these summer phenoms!
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, Snapchat is slowly taking over social media with it’s fun filters and vanishing content. This is the perfect opportunity to connect with newer audiences or convert your audiences from other social sites onto Snapchat! One of my favorite aspects of Snapchat is that you can save all the content you publish to your camera roll and repurpose it to your other social sites – it helps make your time on social media work for you.
The reason Snapchat has become so popular is because it’s the epitome of transparency, forcing you to participate without needing to perfectly stage or edit a photo. I’ll put it like this: Instagram is where the best and most perfect version of yourself lives – it’s expected on that network. But Snapchat? Snapchat is where you can be you, and that’s the NORM! If you’re not so much into the live and real aspect of it, Snapchat recently launched an update that also allows you to upload pics or videos from your camera roll onto the network. So get out there, show off your listing, talk about your day and start connecting and broadcasting – there’s no time like the present!
Instagram Stories have been under much scrutiny since it’s inception in late July, early August this year. Critics says that it is incredibly similar to Snapchat–but let’s be honest–that’s the whole point of it! Snapchat is the hottest ticket in social media right now, so anything you can do to capture that magic will help! Instagram stories is built into the app, and allows you to publish vanishing content, just like on Snapchat. It has it’s own unique set of filters and editing capabilities that set it apart just enough to not be the EXACT same thing. This additional layer of exposure helps to get you higher visibility inside of Instagram. Facebook Live has consistently grown in popularity over the summer and is now the epitome of “living in the moment,” this summer’s hottest trend. From folks at concerts, or filming a day at the beach, to even Olympians broadcasting their adventures from the opening and closing ceremonies, Facebook Live is here to stay! I follow a lot of real estate professionals on social media, and let me tell you, not a single one of them has incorporated a Facebook Live broadcast into his or her social strategy. This market is PRIME for a Facebook Live broadcast! Not only does a broadcast give you priority placement in news feeds, it sends off notifications to your followers as well! Videos no longer need to be at least 5 minutes. Now, they can be any length and still receive these perks!
You know as well as I do that homes are selling rapidly, especially those in the lower to middle price ranges. Imagine showing off a new listing via Facebook Live, and having it go under contract before you even get a chance to put it on the MLS! That’s the competitive advantage buyers and sellers CRAVE in today’s market; rise to that challenge and close those sales!
