Homes.com Finishes Out 2012 Holding Strong

The top five real estate listing websites concluded the year with no movement in rankings, but Homes.com was the only one to see an increase in visits. In December, Homes.com saw a growth of over 5% in visits share, topping out at over 11.3 million visits — definitely finishing out the year strong! Though Trulia, Realtor.com, and Yahoo! Homes are slightly ahead in the ranks, they all saw a significant decrease last month. This bodes well for the always-growing Homes.com.
Here’s how the rest of the top ten real estate websites stacked up against each other in December 2012:
- Zillow
- Trulia
- Realtor.com
- Yahoo! Homes
- Homes.com
- MSN Real Estate
- Rent.com
- AOL Real Estate
- MyNewPlace (November: ZipRealty)
- Apartment Guide
MyNewPlace had an interesting end of the year boost, seeing a 10% increase in visits, which knocked ZipRealty out of the top ten. Apart from that, however, the rest of the top ten remains unchanged in the ranks. With Homes.com’s growing popularity at the end of 2012, we can expect big things for the year ahead.
Home Prices See Biggest Jump in Two Years, Home Sales Rise Too

We have more good news to report on the housing front. According to the S&P/Case-Shiller Index, home prices have seen the biggest jump in two years! In Q3, prices were up 3.6 percent higher than they were the same time last year!
Homes.com Rounds Out the Top 5 in September

The September Hitwise report has just been released and with it comes good news for Homes.com. Although there has been a slight decrease in visits share, Homes.com remains the fifth real estate website! Even though Realtor.com is ahead by one position, it saw a much more dramatic decrease of visits share of 6.5%. If that trend continues, Homes.com will easily be able to gain that ground. Yahoo! jumped up a notch, presumably because of their recent name and content change.
Here’s how the rest of the top ten real estate websites lined up in last month:
- Zillow
- Trulia
- Yahoo! Homes (August: Realtor.com)
- Realtor.com (Yahoo! Homes)
- Homes.com
- AOL Real Estate
- FrontDoor Real Estate (August: MSN Real Estate)
- MSN Real Estate (August: Rent.com)
- Rent.com (August: Apartment Guide)
- Apartment Guide (August: Apartments.com)
As you can see, the top ten real estate websites tend to do a bit of shuffling around each month, but they never stray far from their familiar spaces. Homes.com’s steady position at number five could change this month however, with the release of October’s “Show Us Your Spooky Spaces” photo contest. We’ll just have to wait and see!
