Homes.com to speak at Council of Multiple Listing Servers conference

In recent weeks there has been a great deal of discussion regarding the rights of brokers and Multiple Listing Servers in controlling the way their content is displayed on property search websites. MLSs and brokers are increasingly expressing concerns about the misuse of their data being syndicated to real estate portals. While syndication provides increased exposure for listings, some real estate portals use syndicated data in ways that do not necessarily benefit real estate professionals.

As part of Homes.com’s efforts to address these industry concerns, Homes.com will be represented at the upcoming Council of Multiple Listing Services conference, entitled “Data Syndication and Licensing: Do You Know Where Your Data Is?” in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, May 10. The Mortgage Calculator app joins Homes.com’s already extensive mobile suite, which includes home search applications for iPhone, Blackberry, Windows Phone 7 and Android users, as well as a mobile website, making Homes.com the first real estate portal to reach consumers on all major mobile platforms.

Homes.com’s Mortgage Calculator app offers a variety of tools to help home buyers and renters searching for their next home. The “Buy or Rent” tool, which calculates the home searcher’s best financial option based on factors like monthly expenses, local market conditions and taxes, is the first of its kind offered in a mobile app designed by a real estate search site.

Other tools on the app include:

  • A debt-to-income calculator that offers feedback on whether now is a good time to buy based on the consumer’s financial circumstances

  • A refinance calculator
